The COBL System
Report ::click to view larger
The COBL system provides a continuous, detailed and oriented color image of the borehole wall using an optical probe or data can be acquired using an acoustic probe. Subsequent interpretation and analysis of the image provides strike/dip information of all identified planar features, including bedding, fractures and faults.

Benefits

Creates an oriented 3 dimensional view of the   borehole.

Continuous survey of the borehole.
  (Records azimuth and dip every millimeter)

Determine the orientation of any planar feature   intersecting the borehole.

Ability to calculate frequency and aperture of   features.

Provides detailed visual representation of core.   (Optical system)

Standard Delivered Products Include:

A videotape of the raw image returned by the   borehole camera.

A disk containing the graphic log of the borehole and   a viewing program. The graphic log of the borehole   displays the oriented unwrapped view of the
  borehole.

A color report showing both oriented wrapped and   unwrapped views of the borehole, along with   strike/dip notations for all identified features.

A feature table listing all identified features, including   strike/dip data, depth and borehole orientation at the   feature depth. An Excel file of the Feature Table will   be included for data import into rock mechanics   analysis software.

A stereonet of all identified features.

  Additional analysis and services are available.
