In-Situ Testing

Crux offers clients a wide variety of downhole in-situ testing services:

  • Crux Oriented Borehole Logging (COBL), a division of Crux Subsurface, Inc., offers borehole feature and core orientation services. This is accomplished through cutting edge optical/acoustical downhole sondes, and matrix systems. In addition to downhole feature orientation, COBL provides the ability to perform downhole surveys, operating temperature sondes, borehole caliper, natural gamma, and resistivity.

  • Hydraulic conductivity testing utilizing HQ and NQ wireline pneumatic packer systems. For deep borings (exceeding 1,200 feet), Crux utilizes HQ wireline hydraulic packer systems.
  • In-situ testing for rock mass deformability estimations. Accomplished through Goodman Jack and Dilatometer systems, or by obtaining in-situ soil strengths using pressure meter systems.
  • Hydrofracturing, which provides stress measurements in rock formations.
  • Installation and performance of 24 hour pump tests to measure drawdown rates, water volume for underground structural engineering, and construction operations.
