Crux begins work on ODOT rockfall project
Crux began geotechnical exploration work yesterday on a rock slope along U.S. Route 26 near Government Camp. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) commissioned the project after falling boulders and rocks became a safety hazard to vehicles on the roadway. ODOT plans to cut away a portion of the slope but required geotechnical investigations to determine what type of material lies beneath the unstable face.
Crux is partnering with Mountain Air Helicopters to provide helicopter-supported drilling on the project and to minimize the environmental impact to the area. The exploration portion of the project is expected to last two weeks.
