Crux’s Role

Crux was contracted to install drilled pier foundations to support the upgraded structures.

Project challenges included mitigating unexpected snowy and icy conditions, as well as efficiently drilling in hard rock.  Crux engaged a subcontractor to complete perforation drilling in advance of drilled pier excavations to facilitate operations and ensure drilled pier equipment was focused on production drilling.  Additional challenges included accommodating mid-project design challenges, which resulted in deeper excavations at 9 locations as well as the need to install CMP’s.

In total, Crux installed 21 piers ranging in diameter from 6 to 10 feet and in depth from 14 to 47 feet.  The foundation scope was completed within schedule and budget, with no safety incidents, and with positive feedback from both the client and owner.
