The Packwood Hydroelectric Project is a 27.5 MW hydroelectric facility located in Western Washington. Crux was selected to provide difficult access exploration drilling to provide information for penstock anchor repair and stabilization work. The four specified boring sites were located 200 feet down a steep, rugged embankment. Crux utilized a heavy piece of machinery as an anchor, and winched a specialty track drill down the slope. After analyzing core from the first two borings, the client requested Crux provide downhole imaging services on the final two borings and install inclinometers in both. All 514 feet of drilling was successfully completed on schedule and on budget.
